Overview and History of Providence Catholic School
Providence Catholic School is the result of the consolidation of St. John the Baptist School (Paris) and St. Francis Xavier School (Brighton). Each school was rich in tradition and history by itself. Students' memories of living with the sisters in the convent during the winter months due to treacherous traveling conditions, feeding their horses at lunchtime, or the visitation of a variety of neighboring farm animals throughout the years remain cherished oral traditions. Beyond, we have found an unrelenting strength in a community drawn by a tradition of Faith, love and hope.
Since the 1996 consolidation of the two schools, communication, trust, respect and teamwork have been vital to the success of the school. While maintaining a hold on tradition, we are progressing to ensure our students participate in weekly Liturgy, celebrate all-school Masses throughout the school year, participate in a fall Family Mass, and share in Catholic Schools Week activities. Daily routines of prayer, worship and study of the Scripture help to guide our students to live in the image of our Lord. We strive to prepare our children for the future both academically and spiritually.
